It's hard to beat swimming when it comes to a sport that strengthens the body, soothes the mind, regulates breathing, stimulates circulation and puts no stress on the joints all in one. Unlike running or weight training, which concentrate on specific muscle groups, swimming benefits the upper body, torso and legs together and is one of the fastest ways to improve general strength, stamina and cardiovascular fitness.

“...I propose great things for inspection and contemplation by every explorer of Nature,” wrote the famous astronomer Galileo Galilei in 1610 after probing the heavens with his crude, self-made telescope. Those “great things” he mentioned are still up there, ready for today’s budding astronomers young and old to inspect and contemplate.

Orion HighLight Plössls is our exclusive, premium line of 1.25" Plössl eyepieces with some noteworthy enhancements. HighLight eyepieces offer a generous 52° field of view (43° for the 40mm) and crisp, sharp images. The HighLights' 4-element optics are fully multi-coated -- every air-to-glass lens surface is multi-layer coated for the highest possible light transmission and better contrast. The lens edges are blackened for additional contrast enhancement.
The machined aluminum housings of the HighLight Plössls sport a distinctive anodized finish, with grip traction knurled right into the metal. Supple rubber eyeguards shield out extraneous light and fold down for eyeglass wearers.
The barrels of HighLight Plössls are precision-machined to a tolerance of +/- 0.05mm from the nominal specification, so you can be sure of a great fit in your diagonal or focuser. And of course they are internally threaded to accept filters.

Think Plössl Eyepieces Are Expensive? Get Sirius!
With a wide 52° apparent field (43° for the 40mm), our Sirius Plössl eyepieces provide clear, sharp images of impressively high contrast. They're suitable all telescope types: reflector, refractor, and catadioptric.
Each 4-element Sirius Plössl is fully coated with magnesium fluoride on every air-to-glass lens surface, with at least one surface multi-coated for even greater light transmission. Lens edges are blackened to reduce scattering of stray light and maximize contrast. Lenses are mounted in black anodized aluminum housings with 1.25" chrome-plated brass barrels. Each is fitted with a rubber eyeguard and internally threaded to accept standard filters.

Now even the casual telescope user can enjoy the benefits of zoom eyepiece technology. A twist of the affordable Explorer II Zoom housing changes the focal length from 21mm to 7mm, or to any focal length in between. That makes it ideal for locating an object at low magnification, then zooming in at higher magnifications for closer inspection. Without changing eyepieces! Actual magnification range will depend on the focal length of your telescope. It works equally well for astronomical or terrestrial viewing. This four-lens eyepiece boasts fully coated optics and exceptionally long eye relief ranging from 33mm to 16mm. Apparent field of view is 30° at 21mm and 43° at 7mm. Rubber traction ring ensures a good grip. The 1.25" barrel is threaded for filters. A nice value in a quality zoom eyepiece!

For those observing targets where you need more power than your eyepieces alone can provide, we offer the Tri-Mag. It gives a big 3x magnification boost to any 1.25" eyepiece it's used with. This is desirable for lunar and planetary observing and for extracting higher powers from "fast" telescopes such as f/5 and f/4 refractors and reflectors.

The Tri-Mag utilizes a multi-coated achromatic "negative" lens that effectively triples the focal length of the telescope's optics. The housing is precision machined from aluminum stock and black anodized to a hard finish. Both the housing and the chrome portion of the barrel are glare threaded and blackened inside to provide maximum contrast. The lens end of the barrel is threaded to accept standard filters. Length, 5". Weighs 5.8 oz.

"Go Short" With This Compact & Versatile Power Doubler
Give your scope a power boost! Our Shorty barlow doubles the power of any eyepiece it' s used with. For about the price of a single eyepiece or less, this practical accessory effectively doubles the number of eyepieces at your disposal.
It gets its name from its compact size. The Shorty is just 3" long end to end- about half the length of a standard barlow lens. It' s short 1.25"-diameter barrel is just 1.6" long, fitting easily in any 1.25" star diagonal, so it' s great to use with refractors and Schmidt-Cassegrains. In fact, it works with any type of telescope.
The Shorty' s 2x amplifier lens is an achromatic glass doublet that' s now multi-coated to ensure excellent light transmission. The machined and anodized aluminum housing is internally baffled to eliminate unwanted reflections and increase contrast.

Retail: $122.95 Our Price: $59.69

Let's cut right to the chase. Our Shorty-Plus 2x barlow is the highest-quality, most versatile barlow you'll ever own. Here's why. It features an air-spaced, three-element apochromatic optical design of 27mm clear aperture, for superior image sharpness and color correction. And, the Shorty-Plus boasts fully multi-coated optics for even greater light transmission.
It's small size- just 2-3/4" long- makes it more convenient to use than longer barlows, especially in telescopes equipped with a diagonal, such as refractors and Schmidt-Cassegrains. Its anodized aluminum housing accepts 1.25" eyepieces or diagonal and has a thumbscrew lock.
The Shorty-Plus doubles the magnifying power of any eyepiece, providing better eye relief and edge sharpness than you'd get using a shorter-focal-length eyepiece by itself to achieve the same power. Weighs 5 oz. Made in Japan.
