It's hard to beat swimming when it comes to a sport that strengthens the body, soothes the mind, regulates breathing, stimulates circulation and puts no stress on the joints all in one. Unlike running or weight training, which concentrate on specific muscle groups, swimming benefits the upper body, torso and legs together and is one of the fastest ways to improve general strength, stamina and cardiovascular fitness.

Those “great things” he mentioned are still up there, ready for today’s budding astronomers young and old to inspect and contemplate.

THE LATE '60S Fastest car in the neighborhood! Dragging from light to light on the main boulevard, finding out who is really "King of the Hill" or "Numero Uno”. At those times the first thing for a Teenager to do – after having taken their driving test – was to get one of the famous "Muscle Cars" and cruise the streets at high speed looking for competitors who do not throw in the sponge when sprinting from light to light. With the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro® SS396 and the Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda of 1970, Carrera introduces two typical representatives of that time's American street-scene with performance, which is still sensational. The Camaro® Super Sport, equipped with a L78-396-engine, had 375 h.p., the slightly bigger Plymouth 'Cuda was fueled by a Hemi power plant with 425 h.p. of 426 cubic-inch. There is just one thing missing: the fuzzy dice hanging from the rearview mirror. In addition to these two US-cars the basic set comprises a high-banked curve, two overpasses as well as the new electronic lap counter.

AERODYNAMIC! American stock car enthusiasts couldn’t believe their eyes in September 1969 – as what was rolling over the race track in Talladega was more like a Jet Fighter than a coupe coming from Detroit’s assembly lines. Compared to its Ford competitors, the Charger was Dodge's top sport model and it was suffering from aerodynamic handicaps regarding its bodywork. That is why Dodge had to follow a drastic redesign by streamlining it: a pointed nose together with the over-sized rear wing brought it instant victory. The configuration of low drag and high stability turned out to be such a huge success, that Plymouth decided to have its Roadrunner-coupe morph into a "Superbird" the following year. In 1969 and 1970 the American ovals became the venues of the so-called "aero-wars", where massive limousines with low-tech-motorization reached speeds beyond the limit of 200 mph. Never again were stock car races more spectacular.

NAILING ONE´S COLOURS TO THE MAST ... … also on the road. Again and again the Stars ´n Stripes have been a popular subject used to represent the individualisation of American steel on four wheels.

No wonder the two typical American Muscle Cars are also painted in their national colours: the Corvette Sting Ray showing the flag fluttering in the headwind and the Mustang additionally using the symbolic power of the Bald Eagle in the graphic.

In addition to these two US cars this basic set comes complete with 14.76 feet of track, including two mechanical speed controllers and a powerful transformer.

"PERFECT ROAD-RUNNING" "Massively over-powered and respected" – that´s how the translation of the word "Mopar" reads, actually describing the equipment- and spare parts-range of the Chrysler group. Soon this became a synonym for the muscle-motorized models from Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth. A typical representative of these kinds of cars, which coupled brute force with eye appeal, was the Plymouth Roadrunner, the least expensive version of all musclecars. It was so inexpensive that the floorboard was only covered by a rubber floor mat, but at least it was equipped with a special-effect horn, blowing "beep-beep" for it’s cartoon character namesake. Not only on the street but also on the racetrack, the Roadrunner proved that it had what it took to be a Mopar. Numerous anecdotes and legends have grown up around its performance and its drivers from its first appearance on stock car tracks until it stopped racing. This basic set contains two racing models of the Plymouth Roadrunner, the Superbird and a retrofitted Roadrunner, as it took part in Riverside in 1970. Both cars were fuelled by the respect-inspiring "HEMI"-engine, generating 425 h.p. of 426 cubic-inch.
