 Spearfishing
can be one of your greatest joys of diving in South Dakota.
It will allow you a chance to dive and explore the vast Missouri
River reservoirs and other man made lakes while closely interacting
with and harvesting the fish that live in these waters.
The SPEARFISHING
specialty class is a two day class, taught in one evening,
and is finished on any of our WALLEY
SAFARIS or dive
trip outings where spearfishing is permitted. During the
class you will have a chance to learn from the first hand
experience our walleye safari guides. You will see actual
underwater spearfishing videos filmed on the Missouri River.
This aids you in identification of freshwater fish as you
will see them in their natural environment.
Topics covered are: the safety aspects of loading
and handling spearguns. Pros and cons of the various spearguns.
Gun maintenance and tips to make your gun and diving system
more effeective. Caring for and transporting game. Spearfishing
regulations in South Dakota.
Many of the same techniques for fish watching
or underwater photography apply to spearfishing so even if
you are not a hunter you can benefit from this class. There
is a minimum charge for this class to cover processing the
specialty class paper work, but preregistration would be appreciated.
